Welcome to Science for Grades 3, 4, 5 & 6

MCDADE INTERMEDIATE SCIENCE FAIR PLANS

Week of November 28, 2011

Monday, Nov 28 – 6^th grade 3-5 minute presentation with board -- all day

Tuesday, Nov 29 – 5^th grade 3-5 minute presentation with board -- all day

Wednesday, Nov 30 – 4^th grade 3-5 minute presentation with board -- all day

Thursday, Dec 1 – 4^th, 5^th and 6^th grade make-ups.

Friday, Dec 2 – Top 4^th, 5^th and 6^th grade projects will be assessed by outside judges from 9:30 to 11:00 in Caruso Hall.  All 4^th, 5^th and 6^th graders will display their boards in Caruso Hall from 1:00 to 2:20.  Parents are welcome to attend the afternoon session.  The primary classes are invited to interview the intermediate students about their projects according to the following schedule:

1. Kindergarten – 1:00 PM
2. First grade – 1:20 PM
3. Second grade – 1:40 PM
4. Third Grade – 2:00 PM

Notes:

1. No normally scheduled science classes will be held during the week of November 28.  I thank all my fellow teachers for their patience and considerations during this week of disruptions to the McDade schedule.
2. The 4^th grade science club will still meet on Monday afternoon, Nov 28.

Science Materials for Grades 3, 4, 5 & 6 for the 2011/2012 school year.

• Heavy duty, locking, one-half inch, 3 ring binder with 5 dividers. These dividers should be labeled Variables, SQ3R/Notes, Laboratory, Tests & Science Fair. Student's name and homeroom should be labeled on the front cover.  Insert at least 20 sheets of paper for each subject divider
• Agenda Book (you will receive a school agenda book during the first week of school)  This book is used everyday to mark homework assignments
• Pencils
• Text book
• Book for pleasure reading
